Facilitator: Lain Mackenzie. Come learn how to chant with this sacred practice of Kirtan. Kirtan is a meditational and devotional chanting experience usually set to music. The word Kirtan (kirtanam) comes from Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. It means praise or eulogy, and more casually means ‘to repeat or recite the Names’ of the divine. Lain will sing a Sanskrit phrase and then the group participates by echoing it, creating a magical energy between cantor and participants. We will end the workshop with learning a chant that we can use on our own.
