Tawas City was founded in 1854 as the first city to be located on the shores of Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron. A trip to Tawas can be the perfect day or weekend getaway. The Tawas area has something for you during all seasons. Spend time at the pier, shop the local unique stores, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the nature all around you while having enjoying the small town feel.

This Lighthouse has been in operation from 1876 to 2016. Tawas Point is the perfect destination for maritime lovers and birdwatchers. You are also allowed to take a tour of the inside, which lasts 45 minutes.

Local Shopping

In Tawas you will find brick paved sidewalks that are lined with trees and benches making shopping around at all of the unique local shops enjoyable. After shopping be sure to stop at one of the many local restaurants for a bite to eat.

This 13 mile pathway is plowed year-round. This bike path goes in and out of the trees. This forest also has tree types identified with signage.

U-Pick Blueberry Farm. Opening is between late July and mid-August, depending on the weather. Blueberries are $1.75 per pound.
